Chamber Recital with Emily Levin

Please join us for the upcoming chamber music program!

The Fine Arts Chamber Players is kicking off the season with a program entitled French Impressions, celebrating the work of Parisian artists and composers.

The concert is Saturday, October 5th at 3pm at the Horchow auditorium at the Dallas Museum of Art.

Emily Levin will be  joined by Sarah Kienle on viola and Ebonee Thomas on flute.

Debussy’s iconic Sonata for flute, viola and harp takes center stage, and is paired with Ravel’s Sonatine, originally for piano and transcribed for trio. Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu was heavily influenced by Debussy, and his piece And then I knew ‘twas Wind (from the Emily Dickinson) is a dreamy and atmospheric tribute to the Sonata.

Each piece on the program is paired with a painting from the McDermott Impresionist collection at the DMA. You are encouraged to explore the exhibit either before or after the concert!

Admission is free and open to all. Children are encouraged to attend, and there will be special program books just for them. The program will be about one hour.

Musicians are Laura Brandenburg, harp, Don Bailey, flute, Gayane Manasjan Fullford, cello, Robert Churchill, piano, and Michael McNicholas, Giant Tamtam. Catered reception to follow.

Several selections from this recital will be repeated Monday, October 7 at 7:30 pm on the Art Music Monday recital series at The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Rd, Dallas, TX 75254.
