Opening Recital: Barbara Biggers

The opening recital of the American Harp Society in Dallas 2019-2020 season will feature Barbara Biggers, harp, and will take place on Sunday, September 29 at 3 pm at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library Auditorium.

 

The event is part of the Mu Phi Epsilon Sunday Recital Series. An expressive and sensitive artist, Ms. Biggers will perform a romantic program of solo harp works by Hovahness, Hasselmans, Bach, Tournier, Granados, and Grandjany. The recital will be followed by a reception.

 

Address for the library is 1515 Young Street, Dallas, TX 75201. Enter the underground parking garage from Wood Street, where free parking is available on Sundays. The recital is free and open to the public.

Joan Holland Masterclass

Student Auditions and Evaluations

AUDITIONS AND EVALUATIONS: 

Sunday, February 2nd & March 1st, from 1 pm to 5 pm 

The American Harp Society in Dallas invites harp students of all ages and levels to participate with solos prepared.  Students should be prepared to commit to both dates for this special opportunity for evaluation and improvement of musicianship.   Alison Read is an advisor for both sessions and Kala Walton, the AHS National Advisor, will join us for the 2nd Auditions and Evaluations.  Registration information will be made available to teachers.

Celtic Harp Circle

Calling All Harpers!

 

The Dallas Harp Society presents a Celtic Harp Circle on Sunday, February 9th from 3 - 5 pm. Bring your lever harp and be ready to play some tunes, enjoy informal performances by local harpists, and learn some new tunes and folklore in the Celtic tradition. Lever harps highly encouraged, but all harps welcomed! Other traditional instruments and Trad musician guests are also welcome. This is a FREE event.

 

Location:  Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,

Bring: Harp, bench or chair, music stand, and music for the All Play. Participants will provide their own music from the list below. Follow the links to print, or play from your own arrangements in the same key. Play melody only, or add chords/left hand. Tunes and keys are listed. All levels and ages are welcome.

 

The afternoon will include performances by Sarah Copus, Rebekah Passmore, and the Handsome Man Celtic Acoustic Ensemble (Laura Brandenburg, Paula Lemmon, Patrick Thurmond). Local Celtic artists will offer music and CD's for sale. Come ready to play - we will begin promptly at 3 pm - and expect to HAVE FUN! See you there!
